How to Take a Progressive Approach to Print Management

How to Take a Progressive Approach to Print Management

Printers, just like any other product or technology, have seen major strides in the years. As these devices get more sophisticated, we’re able to make data-driven decisions that enable us to be more targeted and effective in our approach to managed print.

So what does it mean to “take a progressive approach to print management?” To us, it means being forward-thinking on security issues, being willing to adapt to industry trends on the fly, putting customers first, and thinking outside the box–all differentiators for imageOne. We build strategies and execute on them not only for today but next year and into the future.

Believe it or not, we love helping clients, especially larger companies, that have what we call “unmanaged environments.” When a client has no print strategy, they don’t know what their costs are, and they’re balancing multiple vendors, that’s when a strong managed print provider can have such a lasting, positive impact on their organization. These situations are our favorite because we love seeing the difference we can make.

Being progressive also means looking beyond software and hardware updates. Many of our competitors will come in, sell you a bunch of new machines, and then you won’t hear from them until it’s time to upgrade those machines 3 years later.

That’s not a managed print strategy.

I’ll give you an example. One client of ours has been with us for more than 25 years and during that time, their needs have obviously evolved. They’ve moved their headquarters 3 or 4 times over the years and each time, we’ve helped them be strategic about their devices in their new buildings so that their printers continue to serve their team well and support their business growth.

We have onsite technicians and a dedicated account manager that meets monthly with the client and we’re just so in tune with their needs that we can provide proactive solutions that keep their operations running smoothly while keeping costs down.

Sometimes, being progressive also means knowing what trends to NOT follow, like remanufactured toner. Sometimes it’s much cheaper than OEM toner that’s made by someone like HP, but they often come with a lot of print quality issues that it will likely end up costing you more money in the long run anyway.
